Naturopathic Medicine Cambridge ON

What type of Education do NDs have?

In Canada, naturopathic medical training consists of an
undergraduate degree (with science pre-requisites) and  a four year doctorate program including a year-long  clinical internship. NDs are regulated under Board of  Directors of Drugless Therapies – Naturopathy (BDDT-N).

What to expect in a Naturopathic visit?

Initial visit is up to 1 ½ hrs including discussion of your present concerns, an extensive health history and physical exam. Second visit is up to 45 minutes, treatment plan is modified. Relevant laboratory or other diagnostic tests may be requested to assist in the evaluation. Subsequent visits vary depending on treatment modalities and progress.

Is Naturopathic Medicine covered by OHIP?

Naturopathic care is not covered by OHIP, although  some extended health benefits do provide full or part  naturopathic coverage.

How is visiting a ND different than visiting a MD?

A big difference is the amount of TIME spent. NDs spend a greater amount of time with patients in order  to understand the patient’s history and to fully investigate so  that the root cause can be discovered and addressed.

Can I see a ND if I am on
prescription medications?

Yes. Naturopathic doctors have training in pharmacology  and drug-nutrient herb interactions. NDs can also evaluate and help you manage the side effects of medications.

Can I see a ND and fertility specialist?

Treatment plans are designed carefully to ensure that it will compliment the fertility treatments (ie. cycle monitoring, IUI, IVF, medications) and to avoid interactions. Treatment offered at Vivo! will help your body prepare and improve success.
